Do you know what you need to do if you are involved in a motor vehicle accident? Are you also aware that the actions taken after your accident, within the EU, differ across countries? What you always need to do in the event of a motor vehicle accident:
• Record your own GC number & GC code
• Record the GC number & GC code & vehicle registration plate of the opposing party
• Record the name of the opposing party’s Insurance company (see green card) and the expiration date of their Insurance Policy.
• Record the names and addresses of any witnesses
• Notify the police
• Take photos of the accident site and the damage sustained to both vehicles
• Contact your Insurance company
For Injury (bodily):
• Immediately visit a local doctor or hospital
• Notify the police to include any sustained injuries in the official police report
• Record the name and address of the doctor who assisted you at the hospital
